As part of its ongoing efforts to provide sustainable solutions to the water scarcity problem in Hadramout Valley , Albadyh Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Aid implemented two unique projects in July 2025 to rehabilitate water wells in Masqa Al-Badia area and the Henan area in Alqatin District of Hadramout Governorate. The projects were equipped with integrated solar-powered systems, generously funded by philanthropists.

Project details:

Project Objectives:

  • Providing a safe and sustainable water source for residents.
  • Enhancing public health and food safety through the provision of clean water.
  • Reducing breakdowns and operational costs through reliance on solar energy.
  • Contributing to social stability and reducing tensions resulting from water scarcity.

Impact of the projects on the residents:

The two projects contributed to solving ongoing crisis that residents of the two areas had long suffered from due to the constant power outages that led to water pumping being stopped for days. With the operation of the solar systems:

  • Water became available 24 hours.
  • The costs of purchasing water and transporting it over long distances were decreased.
  • Hygiene and general health for families was improved.
  • Residents found in these projects a solution that enhanced their stability and dignity, and gave them hope for a more stable future.

Sustainability Investment

with these two projects, Albadyh Foundation has confirmed that solar energy represents a strategic option for addressing one of Yemen’s greatest humanitarian challenges: the water crisis. The foundation is preparing to implement more sustainable well projects to ensure that water remains a renewable resource that meets people’s basic needs and alleviates their daily suffering.
