Albadyh Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Work, with generous funding from İyilik Yolu Organization – Turkey, implemented the Alternative Classrooms Project at Al-Rawda Camp School in Ma’rib Governorate during the year 2024–2025. This initiative marked an important step towards strengthening the educational process and improving the learning environment inside the camp
Project Background
For years, the camp’s students had to study in makeshift classrooms built from wood and tin sheets, which offered no protection against the scorching summer heat or the harsh winter cold. This not only hindered their academic performance but also exposed them to serious health risks.
Project Objectives
To provide a safe and suitable educational environment for displaced students.
To contribute to the stability and continuity of education within the camp.
To improve the humanitarian and living conditions of students and their families.
Project Components
The project included the construction of four new classrooms built to high engineering standards that take into account the local climate conditions. In addition, it featured:
Installation of doors and windows to ensure student safety.
Interior painting and finishing works.
Connection of an electrical network and lighting system.
Beneficiaries
The project directly benefited 210 students from displaced families in the camp, along with their teachers, who are now able to carry out their educational mission in a safe and comfortable environment.
Humanitarian Impact
Through this project, both students and teachers have gained access to a dignified and secure learning environment that enables them to continue their education away from the hardships of extreme weather conditions.
